Each year, Lowe’s employees across the country are empowered to improve their community through Lowe’s Heroes, an enterprise-wide volunteer program that focuses on making a lasting impact in the communities where Lowe’s employees live and work.
“Giving back to the community is actually foundational to who we are as a company” said James Frison, Director of Community Relations.
And this year, for the first time ever, more than 3,000 employees joined forces for the biggest Lowe’s Heroes project to date. On Tuesday at Lowe’s annual National Sales Meeting in Las Vegas, employees assembled tool kits that will be distributed to more than 4,000 Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide. The kits are filled with vital tools such as hammers and wrenches that will enable Club staff to keep up with repairs and improvements so they can continue offering programs and services that fulfill their mission of serving youth.
Lowe’s employees also assembled tables, benches, chairs and sheds to benefit several area schools and the Corridor of Hope, a cluster of social service providers in downtown Las Vegas that assists the homeless population. Lowe’s teamed with Keep Las Vegas Beautiful, an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful, to complete the school projects.
“The best way I can describe this activity is it’s a lot of people doing a simple project for a big impact” said Jeff Nuzbach, store manager in Houston, Texas. “It’s special for me because we just got finished with a service project in our community. And now we get to come here and do something that’s going to make an impact across the nation.”
In 2016, Lowe’s Heroes logged more than 80,000 volunteer hours helping communities. Here’s a look at just a few of those projects.
