Dean Sutton knows the consequences of not taking safety seriously. He spent six years working in emergency medicine and another 10 as a firefighter before joining Lowe’s of Lake Wales, Florida. It’s important to him to work at a safe place and return home each day to his family. And providing a safe place for customers to shop is just as important.
Sutton found both of those things at Lowe’s. The Lake Wales store recently celebrated 1,000 days without an incident, and the streak carried into 2017. This is the first store in company history to reach the milestone. A second store in West Plano, Texas, also recently reached 1,000 days.
“Safety is really about nothing happening here at work so that everything can happen in the community,” said Kenneth Farrington, a department manager at the store.
